You may also be able to package childcare if the centre is run by an external provider, but this may mean you’re not eligible for government childcare benefits and rebates – so talk to us first.

There are two opportunities for salary packaging the costs of child care. The first, and often simplest way, is to salary package fees you pay to a centre which is operated by your employer. As long as your employer has a controlling interest in the centre, salary packaging can be relatively straightforward.

The other option – which does come with a disclaimer – is to package child care costs paid to a centre which isn’t operated by your employer. If you salary package child care costs paid to other centres though, you may not be eligible for the government’s child care benefits and rebates. For this reason, we recommend you seek independent advice based on your personal circumstances before packaging these costs.

· Set up child care arrangements with an approved child care centre.
· Send the details and document to us.
· We will arrange for your employer to deduct the amount from your pre-tax salary. You thus save the income tax rate on the amounts.
· We will then arrange for the amount to be either paid to your child care provider, or to your own bank account depending on whether you have already paid the amount or not.
